Celebration of Slovenian cycling

... June in Maribor!

We can proudly announce that the Festival of Slovenian Cycling, as we could call the weekend when Slovenian cyclists compete for the title of national champion in road race and time trial, will be held in Maribor this year.

The 2022 season started with the remarkable successes of our cyclists. Tadej Pogačar has set a new milestone in the world of cycling. The 23-year-old is the first to accumulate more than six thousand points on the world cycling rankings, and for the first time in history Slovenia has 3 riders in the top 5 of the international UCI scale.

The race for the title of the national champion is also a great challenge for our best cyclists, such as Primož Roglič, Tadej Pogačar, Matej Mohorič, Luka Mezgec, Jan Polanc and Jan Tratnik.

This is almost the only opportunity to see our cycling aces at work on Slovenian roads. So be there on Thursday, June 23, 2022, when Slovenian cyclists compete in the time trial. Three days later, on Sunday, June 26, 2022, another road race will be held in Maribor for the title of national champion. The competition will be held in different categories, from juniors to members of the elite class. Girls will also compete for the title of the national champion.

It is a circular race with a lap length of 16.6 km. The start and finish are located in Ljudski vrt stadium. This will further increase the attractiveness of the race, as the cyclists will repeatedly pass the start-finish arena, which will be the central place of the event.

In addition to the road races, Pohorje Mountain will also host the National Olympic Cross Country Championship (XCO) on Saturday, June 25, 2022. All adrenaline fans of daredevil descents and jumps we will experience on Pohorje slopes.

Together with the Branik Cycling Club (Kolesarski klub Branik), the Pohorje Mountain Bike Club (Društvo gorskih kolesarjev Pohorje) and the EYOF 2023 Maribor Organizing Committee, the Cycling Federation of Slovenia (Kolesarska zveza Slovenije) will ensure unforgettable cycling days and a rich social program.
