EU PROJECT – Active, Healthy and Happy Volunteers

Successful on the EU project Active, healthy and happy volunteers

The project Active, Healthy and Happy Volunteers at the European Youth Olympic Festival – Maribor 2023 is an Erasmus + project that focuses on volunteering in sports. The project aims to create a friendly environment for volunteers by offering targeted activities, mentoring, workshops and cultural events that promote a healthy lifestyle and social inclusion.

16 countries of the European Union and associated members (Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Portugal, Romania and Sweden) will participate in the project, which is being carried out under the auspices of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia and for which we have successfully obtained €450,000 in non-refundable European funds.
The project is linked to the priorities of Erasmus + and the needs of volunteers (social inclusion through sports, encouragement to participate in sports and physical activities, promotion of a healthy lifestyle).
At EYOF 2023, we want to create a friendly environment for volunteers, which will enable their successful integration into the organizational structure, and at the same time create a broad system for adequately rewarding their contribution.
Through a set of targeted activities, volunteers will acquire a wide and diverse range of new knowledge and valuable experiences, tools for developing social skills and career potentials, as well as opportunities for interaction with participating athletes and professional staff, international networking and weaving new friendships.
We will therefore use the experience of EYOF Maribor 2023 as a basis for the analysis and evaluation of the sustainable effects of volunteering in the local environment, and the data obtained from these analyzes as the basis for building a platform for its further successful development.
The handbook for organizers of non-profit sports events will contain proven solutions for adequately rewarding volunteers and emphasize their participation as an asset. The development of a digital tool for the management and coordination of volunteers will also enable the collection of feedback and provide a foundation for further development.
