With sustainability at heart

Sustainability is undoubtedly one of the most pressing challenges of our time, which applies to all social and economic activities, including sports. The European Youth Olympic Festival is a significant sporting event with a strong international impact, which can play an important role in promoting sustainable development and raising awareness of the importance of sustainability.

We are aware that sport has a great impact on the environment and society, so our goal is to actively reduce the harmful effects of the festival on the environment. With this aim in mind, we adopted 25 sustainable goals for the realization of a sustainable event, which follow established sustainable guidelines.

FIVE RULES OF SUSTAINABILITY FOR YOUNG ATHLETES

The Commission for Sustainable Sports at the Olympic Committee of Slovenia – Association of Sports Federations has prepared Five Rules of Sustainability for young athletes under the slogan “Green sports hero, anyone can be one!“. With this small step, the newly established commission is eagerly starting its journey to raise awareness of this important issue.
